Roy dazzles as Portland downs Orlando
Basketball Betting Lines
11/10/2008 - Orlando, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Brandon Roy scored 27 points to pace Portland to a 106-99 victory over the Orlando Magic.
Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw each scored 20, and Rudy Fernandez chipped in 16 points off the bench. LaMarcus Aldridge was a force with 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Trail Blazers, who won their third consecutive game and won for the first time on the road in four tries this season.
Dwight Howard finished with 29 points and 19 rebounds for the Magic, who had a four-game win streak broken. Hedo Turkoglu had 35 points on 11-of-21 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three-point range.
Orlando was held without a field goal for an 11-minute stretch. Rashard Lewis' jumper gave the Magic a 72-68 edge with 4:28 remaining in the third quarter, but they were ahead just 73-72 going into the fourth.
Outlaw and Fernandez each hit three-pointers to start the fourth as part of a 15-2 quarter-opening run. Roy's layup ended the flurry for an 87-75 lead at the midway point.
The Magic were 0-for-11 from the field during their drought, which finally ended on Turkoglu's bucket with 5:24 remaining. The mountain was too high to climb though, as Orlando never got closer than five points.
Down 101-95 in the final half-minute, Outlaw stole an inbounds pass, and Blake made four consecutive foul shots to seal the victory.
Keith Bogans had 12 points for the Magic, who also got 10 points, six rebounds and seven assists from Jameer Nelson.
Howard was dominant in the first half, to the tune of 23 points and 12 rebounds. But the Magic still trailed, 55-54 at intermission.
Game Notes
The Magic were bidding for their first-ever 5-0 homestand...Orlando had won the previous four meetings...Portland had just six turnovers, while Orlando's 14 miscues led to 17 Trail Blazer points...Portland's bench held a decisive 40-12 scoring advantage.

MySportsbook.com: NBA Championship Odds
With the playoffs about two months away, the top two teams in the Western Conference are the clear cut leaders to win the NBA Championship. The Dallas Mavericks have the best record in the NBA (44-9) and have been absolutely scorching since the second week of the season. What makes the Mavs’ record more impressive is the fact that they dropped their first four games of the season. Currently they have won 17 out of their last 18 and are MySportsbook.com’s favorite (2-1) to win it all. Right behind the Mavs are the Pacific leading Phoenix Suns (39-13). Last season, the Suns lost in the Conference Finals to non-other then the Mavericks four games to two. Of course the Suns were without center Amare Stoudemire who has is averaging 19.9 PPG and 9.5 RPG since coming back from his knee injury. Unlike the Mavs, the Suns have struggled a bit lately having lost their last three and four out of their last seven. Of course the main reason for their three straight loses is due to the absence of two time MVP Steve Nash, who is out with a shoulder injury. Heads-up, the Mavs have beaten the Suns in both of their meetings this season.
In the Eastern Conference, the Pistons (32-19) are the favorites to win it all at 6-1. The addition of Chris Webber seems to have been a good move for the Pistons. Since coming over from the 76ers, Webber has averaged 13.1 PPG and 7.3 RPG and the Pistons are 11-4. Even though the defending champion Heat are currently on the playoff making cusp, they are the Eastern Conference team that is getting the most action to win it all (9-1). The fact that Shaquille O’Neal is back in the starting lineup after missing 39 games probably has something to do with this. No doubt, Shaq makes a difference when in the lineup as their winning six out of their last seven would indicate.
